Residency project commissioned to mark the opening of the Royal Brompton Diagnostic Centre (2020-2022)
Exploring the Brompton landscape through real and virtual walks was key to my process, as was collaboration with diagnostic technicians. I worked with radiographers to scan plant specimens found in the surrounding area, whilst considering the technical creation of medical imagery and diagnostic processes.

Windowing
Vinyl mural and Curtains, 2022
The primary outcomes of the residency were a window mural for the entrance of the building and cubicle curtains used throughout the centre. These designs are the result of wide ranging research where I considered Biophilia, the local environment and various imaging technologies used in the centre.
Visually inspired by wave forms and scientific diagrams, the linear motifs are a response to imagery produced during the scanning sessions and wider investigations into the Brompton area, including; bark from local trees, fragments of maps and growth of ivy over the existing Sydney Street building.
The resulting collection of speculative forms offer glimpses into a larger potential narrative and the work is intended to be looked at and through. This hopefully will enable calming contemplation and imaginative wonderings, whilst encouraging further enquiry into the local landscape and possibilities to be found in nature.
