Mapping King’s Cross

Paper + wood collage
30 x 30cm
2016

Outcome from my 6 month residency as ‘Illustrator in Residence’ at House of Illustration.
During this time I explored the developing King’s Cross environment, mapping the changing landscape over time through walking and observation, finding relationships between buildings, objects and the behaviour of people in the landscape. I presented the gallery as the centre point of my personal ‘map’ of the area. Each wall featured a series of these wood and paper collages, representing experiences encountered during the residency in a particular direction at a given time, each referencing the geographical direction of the gallery they were hung.

* A limited edition book of drawings from this series is available to buy here
